Competitive Ladders Event

Candidates for 3.0 (current 2.5 players) will play in dedicated 2.5 Competitive Ladder Events.
  • Candidates for 3.5, 4.0, and 4.0 Advanced (current 3.0, 3.5, and 4.0 players) will participate in Club-Wide Competitive Ladder Events.

Using the Competitive Ladder Event to Move Up in Rating Level
  • Players will register to join the Competitive Ladder.
  • The Competitive Ladder will be on-going from the second week in November–March 31.
  • Players will be grouped on the Competitive Ladder within rating levels.  In other words, all 3.0s will be grouped together and assigned a sufficient number of courts. Likewise, 3.5s will be grouped together and 4.0s will be grouped together.
  • All players will be brought into the ladder at the rankings as follows:
    • Over 4.0          Ranking 5
    • 4.0                   Ranking 10
    • 3.5                   Ranking 20
    • 3.0                   Ranking 30
  • After the Competitive Ladder has started the second week in November, new players joining the Ladder will be placed at the above middle ranking of their established rating level.
  • Ladders will be gender-specific.
  • Each Competitive Ladder Event will consist of two (2) Rounds.
  • Each Round will consist of either three (3) or five (5) games.
    • 11 points wins in 4-player Rounds (3 games, no byes)
    • 9 points wins in 5-player Rounds (5 games, one player has a bye each game)
    • Win by one
    • No timer
  • The Competitive Ladder Events will be played weekly.
    • Players will retain their ranking when they miss a ladder event.
    • Players will be moved down one ranking level for a verified ‘No-Show’.
  • When a player moves up six (6) ranks from his/her initial ranking, that player will be declared eligible to schedule a Rating Test.
  • Potential testers will be responsible to schedule their own test (and make necessary changes).
