About Karl...
Karl was responsible for prompting Roberts Resorts to build the first two courts here at the resort. He spent endless hours teaching people how to play the game and promoting the sport he loved so much. Sadly, Karl passed away suddenly in October, 2011, before he had the chance to realize the magnitude of his efforts. This annual tournament is in honor of his memory and we encourage players of all skill levels and ability to join in the fun and competition.

GENERAL INFORMATION
Format will be mixed doubles for skill levels 2.0, 2.5, 3.0, 3.0/3.5 combo, 3.5 and 4.0+. Those in the 3.0/3.5 combo group consist of one 3.0 and one 3.5 player - for a total combined skill level of 6.5. We will also have a 3.5 men's doubles event for those who don't have a female partner for mixed. For 3.5 men's doubles, if you received a medal in our in-house tournament in January you can only partner with someone who did not receive a medal. In the event there aren't enough teams in an event to create a bracket, the Tournament Committee reserves the right to combine skill groups (with separate medals awarded for each group) or let players opt out. Players may play at a higher skill level by choice; in such cases separate medals will not be awarded.
You must be a resident staying in the resort (or scheduled to stay here) for a minimum of 30 days in order to participate. If you have stayed in the resort for at least 30 days in the last year, or you are scheduled to stay in the resort at least 30 days around the time of the tournament, you qualify to enter.
If you don't have a partner but still want to play we can try to link you up with someone. Go ahead and register and indicate that you are a player "needing a partner." We will not link up players without their consent.
Start time is 8:00 AM or after (to be announced closer to the tournament date).
New this year! We will only have referees for the medal matches. For regular games, players will self officiate, but we will have roving rules experts on hand who can help answer questions and settle disputes.
Specific times for when each skill group starts will be determined closer to the tournament date and posted on Pickleballtournaments.com and sent to players via email.
Players need to check in 30 minutes before their event is scheduled to start. If you have a "bye" please make sure you are there when your group is scheduled to start (in case the bracket changes due to opponent forfeit or other circumstances).
Those playing first thing in the morning can report directly to their assigned court after checking in. Someone will be there to greet you or will come to your court to give you your score sheet and provide instructions. From that point forward, players will report to the event desk when their match is called.
Brackets will be posted in the morning on day of play on Pickleballtournaments.com and at the courts.
