2025 Kokopelli Klassic
February 8-11, 2025
The annual Kokopelli Klassic Pickleball Tournament is back again for its sixth year!  Last year, approximately 450 players competed. This is a fully-sanctioned USA Pickleball tournament and all matches are officiated by certified referees.

There are some important changes to USAP ratings and membership that require your immediate attention and action prior to registering.  Please read the following carefully!
TOURNAMENT HIGHLIGHTS

Dates:  February 8-11, 2025

Event Schedule:
  • Saturday, February 8 - Women's Doubles (UTR-P 4.0 to 6.0)
  • Sunday, February 9 - Mixed Doubles (UTR-P 5.0, 5.5 and 6.0)
  • Monday, February 10 - Men's Doubles (UTR-P 4.0 to 6.0)
  • Tuesday, February 11 - Mixed Doubles (UTR-P 4.0 and 4.5)
IMPORTANT REGISTRATION INFORMATION YOU NEED TO KNOW! WHAT IS NEW?
  • USA Pickleball (USAP) has changed its membership structure and you will need to have the “Champion” membership to play in sanctioned tournaments. 
  • USAP retired the old ratings system UTPR for use in registrations and it no longer adds match results to this legacy rating as of July 2024.  USAP has adopted the UTR-P ratings system.  There is a bunch of information about the new UTR-P on the USAP website here: https://usapickleball.org/tournaments/tournament-player-ratings/utr-p-rating-faqs/.

  • The event skill levels for the 2025 Kokopelli Klassic range from 4.0 to 6.0.  These are skill levels associated with the new UTR-P ratings and not the legacy rating system that you are accustomed to.  USAP recommends that you sign up for an event that is approximately 1.0 higher than your legacy rating.  So if you are a 3.0 player in other tournaments, or in your legacy rating, then sign up for the 4.0 level.
  • Kokopelli is using LivePickleball for registration and to manage the tournament.
Registration for the 2025 Kokopelli Klassic will open November 12, 2024 at 5:00 p.m. AZ time.
Steps to Register:
  1. Make sure your USAP membership is the “Champion” level and good through 2/11/2025.  Make a note of your name exactly as it appears in your USAP membership.
  2. Claim your UTR-P if you have not already.  Use the link above to claim your rating.  BE SURE TO ENTER YOUR NAME EXACTLY AS IT APPEARS ON YOUR USAP MEMBERSHIP when claiming your rating.
  3. To register for the tournament use this link to take you to the tournament page on LivePickleball:  https://events.livepickleball.com/event/listing/346 Create a profile in LivePickleball if you don’t have one already.
REGISTRATION DETAILS

Opens:   Tuesday, November 12, 2024 at 5:00 PM (AZ standard time)
Closes:   Saturday, January 25, 2025 at 11:55 PM
Cost:       $80. This includes all events, referee fees and the non-refundable $5.00 administration fee from LivePickleball. 
PEM Club Members will be refunded a $5 registration discount after club verification. 

*** Skill Rating Requirement - First Day of Registration (11/12/2024) ***
One member of your doubles team must have a USAP UTR-P skill rating that matches the skill level of the event you are registering for, and one team member may play up in level. Example:  if you wish to play in a 4.5 event, one member of your team must have a UTR-P of 4.5 to be allowed to register for that event, and your partner may play up in level. 

We do this so that players have a chance to play in their qualified level and the event does not fill up with only folks wanting to play-up in skill level.

BEGINNING 11/13/2024 AT 12:05 A.M. AZ time:  the requirement for one player on a team to have the required level will be lifted.  As a USAP sanctioned tournament players may play at their UTR-P level or above, and they may play their age or play down in age.

USA Pickleball Membership:  Make sure your USAP membership is current through 2/11/25 or you will not be able to register.  If you are not a member then you will need to join before registering for the tournament.
